Building a Korean-Style Alzheimer's Diagnosis and Treatment Platform Begins
BREDIS Healthcare is participating, alongside Deepsion Bio, BWave, OBELAB, and the Brain Engineering team at Korea University, in building a "Korean Integrated Platform for Alzheimer's Diagnosis, Treatment, and Management." This consortium aims to build a system that connects blood biomarkers, electroencephalography (EEG), photoplethysmography (PPG), functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS)-based cerebral blood flow measurement, AI analysis, and ultrasound therapy technology — enabling the management of Alzheimer's disease within a single platform, spanning early screening, diagnosis, treatment, treatment response evaluation, and prognosis prediction. BREDIS Healthcare is responsible for the blood-based biomarker analysis component of the platform. Building on its ultrasensitive measurement technology for key Alzheimer's-related biomarkers — including pTau217, GFAP, and NfL — the company supports early diagnosis and treatment monitoring for the disease. In particular, by leveraging blood tests — which offer greater accessibility and convenience for repeated testing compared to conventional PET scans or cerebrospinal fluid analysis — BREDIS Healthcare aims to more efficiently identify individuals at risk for Alzheimer's disease and establish a foundation for quantitatively tracking disease progression and treatment effectiveness. Through the development of this platform, the diagnostic paradigm for Alzheimer's disease is expected to shift from post-symptomatic management toward early detection and prevention — helping ensure that more patients receive timely diagnosis and treatment.
