BREDIS Healthcare Selected for Seoul Bio & Medical Technology Commercialization Support Program — "Accelerating Commercialization of Dementia Early Diagnosis Technology"
BREDIS Healthcare announced on the 7th that it has been selected for the 2024 Bio-Medical Technology Commercialization Support Program (the "Seoul-type R&D" program), jointly organized by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Business Agency (SBA). With this selection, BREDIS Healthcare will accelerate the development and commercialization of its Alzheimer's disease blood biomarker test kit and dementia risk prediction solution. The Seoul-type R&D program aims to foster the bio-medical industry by strengthening the competitiveness and supporting the commercialization of promising technologies developed by small and medium-sized enterprises and startups based in Seoul. This particular project will be carried out through an industry-academia-research consortium, with selected companies receiving R&D support for up to two years. BREDIS Healthcare holds ultrasensitive blood biomarker testing technology based on Digital ELISA, offering more than 10,000 times the sensitivity of conventional blood tests, as well as AI-based medical data analysis technology that assesses dementia and Alzheimer's disease risk using blood test results and digital phenotype data. The company currently provides its services to leading general hospitals and research institutions in Korea and abroad. Through this Seoul-type R&D project, BREDIS Healthcare plans to conduct clinical trials for an Alzheimer's biomarker test kit built on its ultrasensitive blood biomarker testing technology and pursue regulatory approval as an in vitro diagnostic medical device. The company also aims to develop an integrated early diagnosis system that links lifelog data collected via its smart ring with blood biomarker data to predict dementia risk. The Dementia Clinic at the Department of Psychiatry, Seoul St. Mary's Hospital (led by Professor Dongwoo Kang), is participating in the project as a joint R&D institution, collaborating on clinical validation and technology development. In particular, the Seocho-gu Dementia Safety Center — with which BREDIS Healthcare signed a partnership agreement last August — will serve as a testbed, providing key data such as blood test results and lifelog data to validate the effectiveness of the dementia risk prediction system. BREDIS Healthcare is currently conducting a survey at the Seocho-gu Dementia Safety Center to assess awareness among older adults of blood test-based dementia diagnosis and smart ring usage. "It is meaningful to be able to contribute to the successful commercialization of our blood biomarker detection technology and the development of a more accurate and reliable early diagnosis system for dementia risk, with support from the city of Seoul," said Hyundoo Hwang, CEO of BREDIS Healthcare. "We are especially encouraged to be collaborating with Seoul St. Mary's Hospital and the Seocho-gu Dementia Safety Center." Dongwoo Kang, Director of the Seocho-gu Dementia Safety Center, said, "BREDIS Healthcare possesses differentiated technology capable of more proactively addressing the challenge of dementia in Korea's rapidly aging society. We hope to contribute, through this joint research, to building a healthier and safer society."
