BREDIS Healthcare, Developer of Dementia Early Diagnosis Tech, Selected for Deep Tech TIPS
August 17, 2023

BREDIS Healthcare, a developer of in vitro diagnostic medical devices, announced on August 17 that it has been selected for "Deep Tech TIPS," a technology startup support program run by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.
Through the program, the company will receive up to KRW 1.7 billion in funding over three years. The funds will be used to complete development of an in vitro diagnostic device capable of detecting ultra-low-concentration disease biomarkers in the body, and to build a platform for assessing Alzheimer's disease risk. BREDIS Healthcare currently provides blood biomarker detection and cognitive impairment risk analysis services to leading general hospitals and research institutions in Korea and abroad.
"We are developing a medical device based on digital immunoassay technology capable of quantitatively detecting blood biomarkers down to the femtogram level," said Jaejeong Son, Chief Research Officer at BREDIS Healthcare. "This allows us to detect biomarkers that conventional blood-based diagnostic kits could not, contributing to earlier detection of Alzheimer's disease."
Hoehoon Jung, CEO of KAIST Youth Startup Investment Holdings — the TIPS operating company that recommended BREDIS Healthcare for the Deep Tech TIPS program — said, "Although still a very early-stage company, BREDIS Healthcare has strong business potential built on differentiated technology, and is well positioned to make a significant contribution to addressing Korea's rapidly growing dementia challenge as the population ages."
CEO Jina Kim added, "All of our services are operated in an environment with fully controlled temperature, humidity, and cleanliness, ensuring excellent accuracy and reproducibility. We plan to commercialize our technology into a medical device and launch a patient-facing service in 2025."
