'Dementia Early Diagnosis & Prevention Management Solution' — BREDIS Healthcare Secures Seed Investment
May 19, 2023

BREDIS Healthcare (Co-CEOs Hyundoo Hwang and Jina Kim) announced on May 19 that it has secured seed investment, led by KAIST Youth Startup Investment Holdings with participation from U.S.-based Checkmate Capital — a milestone reached just three months after the company's founding. The investment amount and valuation were not disclosed.
Founded in February, BREDIS Healthcare provides a proprietary platform that diagnoses Alzheimer's disease and predicts its prognosis through blood testing, aiming to deliver an integrated solution spanning diagnosis, prevention, treatment, and disease management. The company's core technology, Digital ELISA, offers roughly 10,000 times the sensitivity of conventional blood tests and has already secured a domestic patent. BREDIS Healthcare currently provides ultrasensitive biomarker detection services to leading university hospitals and research institutions in Korea and is preparing to obtain regulatory approval for an in vitro diagnostic device.
The investment came through the KAIST Technology Startup Boost Fund, which supports startups founded by KAIST alumni. "We expect BREDIS Healthcare to help solve the invasiveness and high cost of existing diagnostics and pioneer the early diagnosis market," said Hoehoon Jung, CEO of KAIST Youth Startup Investment Holdings. CEO Jina Kim added that the round — which included co-investment from Checkmate Capital — will support the company's growth into a solution leading both the domestic and global dementia markets.
BREDIS Healthcare has also signed MOUs with Hanyang University Guri Hospital on biomarker development for intractable diseases, and with Pusan National University on patient data-based diagnostic research.
