Dementia Risk Early Detection Company Establishes Base in Jeju, Investing KRW 1 Billion Over Three Years

(Jeju = Yonhap News) By Byun Ji-cheol = A biohealth company with technology for early identification of the risk of brain diseases such as dementia based on blood tests and other methods is establishing a base in Jeju.
Jeju Province signed an investment agreement with Bredis Healthcare, a company specializing in ultra-sensitive biomarker analysis, at Baengnok Hall of the Jeju Provincial Government Office on the 20th.
Bredis Healthcare is developing technology to identify risks related to brain health at an early stage by precisely analyzing biomarkers, specific substances found in the blood.
The company is also analyzing lifestyle information collected through wearable devices together with clinical and cognitive function data to comprehensively assess individuals’ health status and risk factors, and is developing the technology into an AI-based risk assessment solution.
Under the agreement, Bredis Healthcare will invest KRW 1 billion in Jeju over the next three years and newly hire more than 10 people, including research personnel.
The company is currently establishing a Jeju Center in Daejeong-eup, Seogwipo City, and plans to complete the establishment of its operational infrastructure by the end of this month.
Jeju Province plans to provide administrative and financial support in accordance with relevant laws to ensure the company’s stable settlement and the smooth implementation of its investment plans.
The province plans to link the attraction of the company with its 9th elected administration’s pledge to “take the lead in establishing a regionally tailored AI biohealth industry.”
The province envisions conducting demonstrations in Jeju of services that use biomarker data from residents and tourists to predict and prevent the risk of dementia and chronic diseases.
Jeju Governor Wi Seong-gon said, “We hope this investment will lead to technology demonstration and commercialization in Jeju and expand into quality jobs and growth of the local biohealth industry.”
