'Diagnosing Dementia Through Blood Tests' — BREDIS Healthcare Selected for KRW 13.5 Billion National R&D Project
October 14, 2024

BREDIS Healthcare, a developer of early diagnosis and preventive management solutions for dementia, announced on the 14th that it has been officially selected for the Materials & Components Technology Development Program run by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE). The program will provide total government funding of KRW 13.5 billion over five years.
The project consists of three sub-tasks aimed at developing "ultrasensitive 3D nano-optical enhancement materials for cancer diagnostic devices." BREDIS Healthcare will lead Sub-task 2.
The goal of Sub-task 2, led by BREDIS Healthcare, is to "develop a highly sensitive biochip for multiplex genetic and immunoassay diagnostics." The project involves developing an advanced biochip capable of simultaneously detecting more than 10 types of cancer-related genes and protein biomarkers, followed by clinical trials.
Chung-Ang University (Professor Jaebum Joo), the Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology (Dr. Taejoon Kang), and the Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (Professor Joohun Kang) — institutions with globally recognized research capabilities in ultrasensitive biochip development and sample pretreatment — are participating as joint R&D institutions for Sub-task 2.
BREDIS Healthcare provides a service through its own platform that diagnoses Alzheimer's disease and predicts its prognosis through blood testing, supporting disease management. The company holds Digital ELISA technology roughly 10,000 times more sensitive than conventional blood testing methods, which has already been granted a domestic patent.
Earlier this year, BREDIS Healthcare established a subsidiary in Singapore. The company is currently conducting a pilot of its digital healthcare platform targeting Asia's aging population, which collects and analyzes multimodal healthcare data — including blood and urine tests and lifelog data — to provide preventive management solutions for cognitive impairment.
"We will lead the way in building a healthier future for humanity through the convergence of advanced bio-technology and digital healthcare," said Hyundoo Hwang, CEO of BREDIS Healthcare. "We aim to transform the paradigm of diagnosis and treatment with innovative technology and create a world where anyone can easily maintain their health."
